Vegan.

Definition

What it means.

Products that contain no animal-derived ingredients and are not tested on animals. Common animal-derived lip balm ingredients include beeswax, lanolin, carmine (a red dye from insects), and squalane (sometimes from shark liver). Numbrrrz is not vegan because it contains ethically sourced Organic Beeswax, which we chose for its superior breathable barrier properties over plant-based wax alternatives.

Cruelty-Free

Products that have not been tested on animals at any stage of development. Numbrrrz is cruelty-free — we never test on animals and never will. While our products contain Organic Beeswax (which means they are not vegan), our Organic Beeswax is ethically sourced from sustainable apiaries that prioritize bee welfare.

Beeswax

A natural wax produced by honeybees to build their honeycomb. In lip care, beeswax serves as a breathable protective barrier that locks in moisture without suffocating the skin. Unlike petroleum, beeswax allows air and moisture vapor to pass through while shielding lips from wind, cold, and environmental stressors. It also contains natural vitamin A which supports skin cell turnover.

Lanolin

A waxy substance secreted by the sebaceous glands of wool-bearing animals, most commonly sheep. Widely used in lip balms and skincare as an emollient, lanolin is one of the top 5 allergens in lip care products, causing contact dermatitis in a significant percentage of people. Numbrrrz does not contain lanolin, using Organic Coconut Oil and Organic Jojoba Oil instead.
