A few things most people don’t know about ingredient lists.
Order = Concentration
Ingredients are listed by concentration — the first ingredient makes up the most of the product. If petrolatum is listed first, it's the main ingredient.
Long Names Are Normal
Labels use standardized INCI names, so plant oils often appear in Latin (coconut oil is Cocos Nucifera Oil). Look up anything unfamiliar here.
What "Fragrance" Means
"Fragrance" or "parfum" is one label term that can cover a blend of components. US rules don't require brands to list each component.
Short Lists Are Quick to Read
